Alaska- Day 1 and 2

So we went on a cruise to Alaska. We went with my (Jenni) family. It was so fun to be with almost all of them and to see and do something totally different for us. I don't like to fly and that became our first hurdle. After walking about a mile, blowing our tops and calming Jim down (I don't often have to do that) we caught a flight and finally made it to Seattle.

First hurdle over we make our way to the ship.
We had our lifeboat drill. Everyone was excited to be on the ship and were a little silly and the poor crew were trying so hard to make us take it seriously. I knew we would regret it later if the boat sunk so I tried to be good.

Then we finally got to eat! It was fun to try new and exciting things and there was plenty of that to choose from at every meal.

That night we saw the first of the towel animals we had heard so much about. My kids asked more questions about these than Alaska.Day 2 (or 3) we stopped in Juneau and went up a tram on the mountain. I loved this even though it was smokey. It was beautiful and I didn't feel like a tourist as much as the other places we stopped.

We hiked for awhile up on the top. There were totem poles carved into trees and Kelsie is doing a great impression.
Duane the tour guide took us on a tour of the city and I enjoyed watching his pride for his hometown way more than seeing the very small city. I did have a nice nap! He took us to the glacier and it was fun to see but the bear we saw there was the best.

Here is the next towel animal! It is quite fun to be pampered a little.

It's so fun to read each one of my kids memories of the trip. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was a highlight of our lives.

great post. Did you buy a towel book? If not I can let you kids see mine. They would love it.

Thanks for the reminder of the good times and your bad times (plane problems).. Did you get back okay? or is there more to the story?

I love how you and Jim have so many pix together or of each other. The only evidence that I took the trip exists in other people's photos...

I'm glad you had fun on your cruise. It looks like you got to see neat places. I think a cruise is a really fun way to vacation!
